The annual Gingerbread House Contest is a popular feature of the holiday season at Old Sturbridge Village during Christmas by Candlelight. Houses are displayed in-person during Christmas by Candlelight and online in this virtual exhibit. Judges’ Comments: It was definitely a challenge this year to choose a winner, there were so many houses that stood out but one was literally above the rest!
The use of homemade gingerbread in a structure such as this was very impressive, almost of professional caliber! The decoration was very detailed and unique, with the mixed media to add dimension.
The piping was stunning, absolutely beautiful, and whimsical.

Judges’ Comments: Anna’s farm was very clean and detailed which was a key decision maker in declaring it the winner. The farm looked perfect to fit in an OSV setting! The approach was conservative in design, but every level of detail included was done perfectly. The sculpted animals have so much character and personality in them, they just put a smile on your face!

Judges’ Comments: Immediately, this house is captivating. The more you look at it, the more detail that is discovered. The warmth that radiates from the interior of the home was incredible, considering it was done with icing. The window piping, the scalloping, the roof, the candles in the window, the garland hung with care, everything by itself was beautiful. It is inviting, and one would want to have a Christmas party there since Christmas charm was included in each and every inch of this gingerbread home.
