Discovery Adventures are immersive day programs that give kids a chance to step back in time and experience life in the 1830s at Old Sturbridge Village. Every session offers kids the opportunity to explore an aspect of 19th-century history and daily life. All programs include an afternoon snack, hands-on crafts, and the chance to learn something new while making lasting friends and memories.

Tapping into Sweetness:  A Journey from Tree to Table

Ages 6-14

The days are getting longer, and that means the sap is starting to flow!  Join us for a three-day, costumed maple-venture!  Discover how people in the 19th century collected sap and turned it into the sweet treat we still enjoy today.

Activities may include making a spile, tapping a tree, and baking with maple sugar over the open hearth.

$190 members / $205 non-member | Lunch available for an additional $25.80

Frosty Days and Winter Work

3-Day Program | February 19 - 21, 2025 | 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Ages 6-14

In this three-day, costumed program, participants will explore what children in the 1830s would do to help in the household during the winter.  Life wasn’t all work-- we will also explore what kind of fun was to be had during the colder months.

Activities may include dipping candles, making a whisk, sledding,  and cooking over the open hearth.
