Join us for a delightful journey back in time at FallFest! Spend the day with your family and friends in the vibrant surroundings of New England's largest outdoor living history museum. Marvel at the vital role animals played in the daily life of early 19th-century New Englanders, from the hardworking oxen to the endearing sheep, and learn about the region's rich agricultural history. Wander through our scenic gardens, step inside the historical buildings, and chat with our friendly costumed historians. Enjoy the tastes of the season with hard cider and sweet and savory apple-themed treats. Shop for apple-themed products in our shops. Come enjoy a day of family fun and educational adventure. PLUS: enjoy CowParade, a public art exhibit on display throughout the Village through the end of September! Apples

Watch the cider mill in action, sample heirloom apples, tour our orchard, learn about historical apple varieties, and purchase hard cider and fall-themed dishes.

Animals

Meet the Village’s oxen teams and guest teams of oxen, and watch them plow the fields. Chat with Old Sturbridge Village’s Beekeeper, Jim Dawber of Hillcrest Apiary, as he harvests honey from comb.

Agriculture

Visit the working farm, see a recreated 19th-century Exhibition of Domestic Manufacture featuring vegetables, cheese, knitted stockings, baskets, and more, learn about 19th-century food preservation, and more.

Throughout the weekend, there will be hands-on crafts, photo opportunities, plus a farm olympics for kids! There will also be butter churning!

Saturday: Author Lecture and Booksigning

Author and historian Melissa Cybulski will be at the Village from 1:30 to 2:30 on Saturday, September 13th, to discuss Johnny Appleseed and his local ties.  She will be available after to sign her book, Appleseeds: A Boy Named Johnny Chapman. This program will take place in the David Wight Community Gallery.

Sunday: American Vinegar Works Showcase

Representatives from American Vinegar Works will be in the Ox & Yoke Mercantile from 1:00 – 3:00 on Sunday, September 14th, to talk about their hand-crafted, artisanal vinegars! American Vinegar Works is based in Worcester, MA, and specializes in creating small-batch vinegars using early 19th-century methods.
